Queensland’s The Updraft Imperative have released a new single entitled ‘Luna‘. Heavily inspired by the tales of child trafficking and sexual abuse that are shared across the globe, Luna delivers powerful lyrics and combined with a simple, yet powerful song structure – it really hits home.
Brisbane-based funk/rock outfit Another Language have released their debut EP Shoulder to the Sun on iTunes, Spotify, and everywhere else you can get music. While it is only early in 2017 – this is a strong contender for release of the year.
Gold Coast-based singer Vita Adam has released her newest single. Entitled Own It, the song is a far departure from her previous releases. With a more urban inspired beat, breakdancing featured throughout and a more diverse range of vocals, Vita has produced 3 minutes and 45 seconds of pop gold.
Perhaps the most striking thing in the video is the choreography supplied by the team at MnB Entertainment. The way Vita and her posse of dancers pull of those flawless timing of moves is testament to the work and effort put in to all those involved. Musically, the beat is reminiscent of the kind of beats you’d hear from the Pussycat Dolls and J-Lo, but the lyrics are significantly different.
Clearly focused on empowerment and taking responsibility, the song’s message goes hand-in-hand with the video. Vita’s brief foray into rap during the verses and followed up with a powerful bridge help to keep the lyrics repeating in your brain long after the song has stopped playing.
While Own It is not on iTunes yet, you can check out all of Vita’s back catalogue and more here.
Sydney-based, Italian-born singer Ivana Rivas has released the newest single from her 2015 album “Look Beyond”. The new single, entitled For You Are God is a guitar-driven praise & worship track that kicks in with a surprise riff before launching into an intro reminiscent of early Planetshakers or United Live.
With easy to follow lyrics and rhythms and catchy beat, it’s easy to see how Ivana came to choose this song as a single. The bridge tones things down a notch, with Ivana’s vocals and drumbeat coming to the forefront – no doubt this will be a special moment in a live set. This is one of those songs you’d look forward to seeing live and would no doubt be the closing song or an encore song in a live performance.
Have a listen below and tell us what you think. Ivana’s debut album Look Beyond is available now on iTunes.
Gold Coast-based rapper D4c has dropped a new single from his Misfit EP entitled “Won’t Stop”. The vocal style is nothing less than you would expect – straight-up aggressive, with D4C’s flow firing faster than an 8 year old on Red Bull. A late 2000s style synth beat makes it really unique as well and sets it aside from the usual Australian Hip-Hop style. The lyrics are part-testimony and part-inspirational, giving the track a positive and inspirational vibe.
The single release comes off the back of D4C’s announcement that he is heading to Bohol City in the Philippines to perform at Harvest City outreach in May 2017. This is another step in the momentum he is gathering within church circles for the work he is putting in for evangelism.
D4C’s Misfit EP is available now on iTunes or you can stream it below from Spotify:
Two new singles hit Australian radio this morning, with US band Comrades releasing the first single from their debut Facedown Records release Lone/Grey and rapper Beacon Light releasing Haters.
Comrades are Facedown’s newest signing, with a hardcore sound that does not seem out of place on the label, lining up alongside our own For All Eternity and Rival Choir. The new single is a powerful hardcore track which is offset by Laura McElroy’s soft vocals.
Beacon Light is a US-based MC from the Grand Rapids area whose music transverses an Eminem-style sound combined with music focused on Jesus’ love and redemption. His new single Haters is from his third album due September 16th this year. Radio is the only way you’re going to hear this, so get in contact with your local station today and tell them you want to hear it.
